Rangers 3 - 2 Man City

Another preseason game, another loss. City come away from Scotland slightly hard done by.

It was an entertaining game tonight both teams played some good stuff, City probably edged being the better team and were unfortunate to come away beaten, I think a draw would have been a fair result for both teams efforts.

Our first goal was scored when Stephen Ireland made his way in to the box and was found by an Adebayor pass, he kept his cool and slotted the ball into the far corner. The second goal was scored by Petrov, he picked up the ball and darted towards the Rangers area, he cut inside and smashed the ball past the goalkeeper.

We played alright tonight except there was times when we looked our usual bad selves. The left hand side was left wide open at times and Rangers were taking advantage of it. Our poor passing also got us in to trouble on a couple of occasions again tonight, these things will have to be sorted out fast if we are to push the top teams this season.

  1. Over £150m spent and you lose to a dire Rangers team with basic footballing mistakes. Doesnt bode well for City and Mark Hughes does it ?

  3. You think we edged it? really? really really? i'm not so sure. The defence looked horrible. This is the first instance pre season that i have been left feeling, well, like i usually do! (you know the feeling!). We are getting close now Mr Hughes - some tightening up is in order. Can someone please tell me why Wayne Bridge is on 100,000 a week??? Oh and Ben Haim - what's he still doing not only at the club, but on the pitch!!?? bah , cah, etc...

  5. I think as far as the football in general was concerned, we edged it.

Rangers looked good to be fair to them but we dominated the ball for longer periods than they did.

  6. unlucky city, rangers were good but missed a few key players, just like city.

dunne and given are liabilities, bellamy is a waste of space and everyone knows arsenal done man city over adebayor, a shocking footballer.

steve davis and steve ireland head and shoulders above the rest

well done Rangers, great fans and out of this world stadium.

  8. Seriously tho, i thought it was as good a pre-season game as you are likely to see. Man city looked like they could be an awesome team this season, i just got annoyed by the comments regarding rangers as "dire" after we competed with you guys fairly evenly.

  9. Well that was only one persons view, Rangers looked a good side tonight.

  10. Why are people judging Rangers ability when, at the end of the day, bet a team worth at least 10x there value? Its ridiculous. Man City with that teamsheat should have won by a country mile yet we come away from a match that has been pretty even throughout and lose.

And credit where credit due, Rangers were in the Uefa Cup Final last year yet despite our millions (spent millions even at the time they reached the final) we haven't even had a sniff of Euro glory.

Frankly, we were beaten by a better team. I find it disgusting we can spend over 150 million and lose to a team who are under severe financial strain.

Rangers could easily compete in the prem
