Taylor signs for City!

City have this afternoon confirmed the capture of Aston Villa goalkeeper Stuart Taylor.

Taylor's arrival is expected to pave the way for Joe Hart to leave the club on loan, the transfer might be a surprise to some people but has been on the cards for a couple of weeks.

Taylor is a decent keeper and will be a good back up for Shay Given throughout the season, it makes you wonder what is going to happen with Kasper Schmeichel, if he is staying you would have thought it is time he at least gets trusted as our reserve keeper.

The length of Taylor's contract is one year according to our official site, although sky sports are reporting a four year deal. He arrives at City as a free agent.

The signings continue, I am hoping to see some news on Tevez and Eto'o next!

  1. That looks a very decent buy to me. I don't think anyone would have liked to see Joe Hart spend the whole season on the bench and personally I would have been worried if we had been left with Kasper as our main cover as he always looks dodgy to me, especially on crosses. Taylor has always looked a reasonable keeper to me and presumably is happy to take a decent pay rise for the prospect of continuing to be a long term understudy. Everybody is happy, no doubt. The summer is shaping up quite nicely.

  2. Well I have to agree Taylor is an accomplished keeper and a decent signing.

As for Kasper he does a lot of things better than Joe Hart in my opinion, I sit behind the goal and get maybe what is a better view of the keepers than some fans.

  3. He's going to be a substitute keeper and will be lucky to ever get on the pitch. Its not worth dressing this story up. We want Carlos Tevez news.

  4. Ali,
Gary can't sign Tevez himself! He's just reporting the signing of a reserve goalkeeper as we need cover.

I don't know enough about Taylor to know if it's a good signing or not so I'll reserve judement for now and I must say I'm a tad surprised, but am pleased Joe will be Getting some experience and action ...probably a bit more than he's expecting in their goal!

  5. Thanks Col, Taylor is a decent keeper and I would even suggest better than Hart. He won't see the pitch much but is a good back up.

  6. I recall him making a couple of howlers at Arsenal, I think, and him being a big lad (nowt sarcy please). No memories of him at Villa. But I'll take your words on it, Gary & Anom.
