Big game and a big player lost!

I am still gutted, I really thought that maybe it was our year to win a trophy. It wasn't to be and we just have to plod on.

We played quite well last night and I wasn't disappointed with the performance, just the result. I just can't stop thinking about Shay Given's mistake though, he should have come out and claimed the ball when it ran away from Gigg's before Scholes scored, I am not going to hold a grudge against Given or anything but that does stand out as a key moment in the game and it could have been prevented.

We will just have to dust ourselves down and get on with it now, we are progressing and that is there for all to see. Maybe I got drunk on the hope of winning a trophy when really all I want is to see us make steps in that direction and that is what we are doing.

On the back of that game we have seen Robinho leave on loan, he has headed back home to Brazil on a deal lasting until the 4Th of August.

How frustrated am I that Robinho has left? VERY! I am not surprised that he has been allowed to leave because he just has not looked bothered. I am frustrated though because of the talent that he has, this lad could be one of the very best in the World if he wanted but he just refuses to show what he is capable of.

I really hope he comes back and proves a point to everyone although I am not sure if he will or not, he should otherwise he faces the prospect of fading away into oblivion. We shall see what happens with him, maybe we will just have to buy Messi!!!

Some advice for Robinho

Today we have been able to read another stupid comment by Robinho and it has made me angry.

Robinho has said...........

"I'm very happy about the interest that Barcelona have in me, playing in the Nou Camp it is much easier to be the best player in the world than at City."

"I'm not forcing a hypothetical exit from England and neither do I have problems with my coach.''

Ok so he added the second bit about not trying to force a move but here is my advice to him, keep your mouth shut and concentrate on becoming the best player in the world at the club that has spent so much money on you!

Also, he does know that Messi plays for Barca, right? So good luck in being the best player at Barca well he is there.

We do not need these kind of comments coming out from players at the club, you get Vincent Kompany taking numerous injections just to play one game and then signing a new contract to prove even more how committed he is to us, then Robinho is coming out with things like this, it is not helpful!

Should Robinho go? I don't think so, should he get his head down and stop worrying about Barcelona, definitely!

Robinho leaving? No chance!!!!

Mark Hughes has told Oliver Holt that Robinho will not be leaving City in January.

Oliver Holt asked Hughes ''So he wouldn't be sold in the January transfer window'' to which our manager replied ''No chance''

I for one hope that Hughes will stick by those words, I really do not want to see Robinho leave. We have not seen his best yet and I think it would be a shame for us deserving fans if we were not able to witness Robinho's best years.

Petrov returns!!!!!!

Mark Hughes has confirmed that Martin Petrov is travelling with the squad for the game against Hamburg.

This is fantastic news, I hope he isn't being rushed and I am sure he probably isn't, I am so glad he is back. We have more than missed him this season and with his quality returning to the team we have a better chance of reaching 7Th place in the league and progressing in Europe. I also think if Petrov and Robinho play in the same team it could benefit Robinho, having a player like Petrov dominating the left wing with his direct play will mean that defenders will be dragged towards him. With two players of such vast quality playing down one side, there is no way that any defence will be able to mark both of them out of a game.

Finally Robinho is cleared!

Today the West Yorkshire Police have finally confirmed that Robinho will not face any charges after being accused of a serious sexual assault.

The West Yorkshire Police made this statement.....

''Following a report of a serious sexual assault that occurred at a nightclub in Leeds on January 14, 2009, the matter was investigated and the man was arrested and released on police bail.''

''A file was submitted to the CPS, who decided that no further action should be taken."

Robinho's adviser Chris Nathaniel has also commented on the outcome............

"I am pleased to announce that Robson de Souza has been cleared of all allegations of rape.''

"He has maintained his innocence throughout the police interview process and I am delighted that all charges have been dropped.''

"Robinho is a hard-working family man, who is extremely passionate about football. He now wishes to focus his attention on Manchester City to help create a successful end to the season. ''

"Robinho will be making an official statement at a later date. In the meantime, he wants to pass on his sincere thanks to all his family, friends, fans and Manchester City colleagues who have supported him through this terrible ordeal."

It is about time the burden of these stupid allegations have been lifted off Robinho's and our Club's shoulders. It was becoming increasingly obvious that Robinho had not committed rape, any evidence would have been found within days. I am so glad that this is over now, it is very annoying to me when our club has to worry about non footballing matters.

I now look forward to hearing what Robinho has to say on the matter, once he does release his statement that should be the end of it and he can concentrate on his football.

Have City fans been to quick to get on his back?

After hearing a lot of City fans say that Robinho should be dropped and even sold in the summer, are they getting ahead of themselves and forgetting how much of a superstar Robinho really is.

It is obvious that Robinho hasn't been in the same kind of form that he was in at the beginning of the season, but why have some City fans jumped on the back of a man that has given us some really memorable moments this season.

He has done some poor things in recent games most notably the terrible penalty against Sunderland, but in my opinion he is getting way to much flack from some quarters. I am not sure why a lot of City fans have turned on him, maybe they are getting carried away and forgetting how fortunate we have been to see this genuine superstar in a City shirt.

He is obviously lacking in confidence at the moment and I think City fans should get behind him and help him to return to the great form we have previously seen from him this season. What do you think?

Robinho and Elano get Brazil call

Robinho and Elano have been called up for Brazil's up an coming World cup qualifiers, the City duo have been called up for games against Ecuador and Peru. They play away to an Ecuador side that will probably feature Felipe Caicedo on the 29Th of march and then go on to play Peru in Porto Alegre on the 1st of April. They are expected to meet up with the rest of the Brazil squad in Rio De Janeiro on 24Th March.

We didn't miss our goal scorers, really?

After the impressive win against Aston Villa on Wednesday night, it has been suggested that we did not miss two of our biggest goal threats.

On the way home from the match yesterday I was listening to BBC radio Manchester and a couple of the callers were in agreement that we didn't miss Bellamy or Robinho, ex blue Nigel Gleghorn who I find normally talks a lot of sense was in agreement.

After hearing more people say the same thing today, the argument seems to be that we were more balanced without them. My opinion is that we were lacking on the left a little yesterday. SWP played great swapping sides, but he can't do that every game without burning himself out, so for me we definitely need a left sided player on the pitch and that is more than likely going to be Robinho. As for Bellamy quite simple really, do you drop a player scoring goals, for me no.

Citys South Americans run riot!!!!!!!!!

City had 3 players on the score sheet in tonight's Internationals, our Brazilians Robinho and Elano were brilliant in their game against Italy and scored a goal a piece. Our other South American goal scorer tonight was Felipe Caicedo, he scored the winner for an Ecuador select eleven against England's under 21s.

Scolari sacked by Chelsea, why am I bothered though?

Well Chelsea have sacked Scolari and your wondering why I am writing about it, well all the unsettling rumours about Robinho still being a Chelsea target in the summer will now hopefully be gone with Scolari being the man who really wanted him at Chelsea.

I am not going to lie I thought Scolari would come back in the summer and try to buy him. I really did not want to go through the worry of possibly losing our superstar all the way through the summer.

So now I hope this means Robinho will stay at City, plus I like the name of my blog.

Stoke City vs Man City 12:45

Last time out against Stoke an absolute masterclass from Robinho at Eastlands where the Brazilian bagged a hat trick ensured Man City comfortably won 3-0.

We go to Stoke with an unchanged team from the one that beat Newcastle 2-1 in midweek, Stoke have made two changes with Danny Pugh and Ricardo Fuller coming in to their starting line up.

I predict a 2-0 win for the blues and lets hope so, come on you blues!!!!!!
