Tevez going? Who will replace him?

Reports are suggesting that Carlos Tevez will leave the club and sign for Juventus, this in turn leaves us another striker short with the start of the season not that far away.

So, Carlos looks like he is leaving and I am not very happy about it really. I thought that it would of been best all around if Carlos signed an extension to keep him at City for another three seasons, we are still in a transitional period as a club and I think Carlos was needed to help us through it.

If Carlos does head for Juventus then it leaves us looking for two strikers with under two months left until the season starts, in an ideal world you would want any new players in before preseason starts to give them the best possible chance of settling in as quickly as possible.

I suppose the time frame we have is irrelevant now because we do need to bring players in, the question is who?

Firstly and for me most obviously, it has got to be time for John Guidetti to get his chance, he has been in and around the first team, he has been out for his loan experience and coming off the back of an injury it is time for him to have a fresh start at City and show us if he can make the grade or not.

As well as John I do think we need to buy another striker in order to make up a strike force consisting of four front men. I know a lot of City fans who think three would be enough but its to close for me, if one gets injured that's it, all of a sudden we are badly lacking.

So who would you go for? Its tough but there is a couple of players out there who are supposedly available, an obvious solution straight away would be to see if its not too late to bring in Higuain, he has a great goal scoring record and has handled the pressures of Real Madrid well. The rumours regarding his proposed move to Arsenal are gathering pace but I think City would be able to turn his head.

Another worth while, possibly simple option could be Mario Gomez, his agent has already said this summer that Gomez is likely to leave Bayern Munich due to falling down the pecking order. I would put an enquiry in about Gomez while exploring our options, he is of good pedigree and a proven goal scorer, simple as that really.

Another option although I personally have never quite been convinced by him, would be Robert Lewandowski. I imagine this would be a hard deal to pull of though with Dortmund taking a tough stance regarding his future.

For my last suggestion and potentially controversial one, Wayne Rooney. I know I know, I do not have to be told but Rooney is still class, if its true that he wants to leave United then I would have a pop at getting him. I know a lot of City fans who will be wondering what I am thinking suggesting that, but I am just not a City fan who dwells on what United are doing until we play them.

Just a couple of suggestions from me but who would you like to see come in up front?

    1. He isn't even 28 yet, I think Rooney has suffered from burn out which everyone could see was going to happen considering the amount of games he has played since being a young man.

He should be peaking at his age which could reignite him, not that he is a bad player now.

Thanks for commenting don't be shy to leave your name next time.

  2. Higuain or David Villa are the obvious choices and would be a major threat to any opposition. We need to keep Dzeko; one of our best players.

I agree. It is about time we bring in Guidetti too

    1. Only problem I have with Villa is his age, don't get me wrong good shout I would have him all day long at the right price though.

Again thanks for commenting please do leave names if you don't mind so I can address you properly, cheers.

  3. Dzeko must stay,
Im suprised we have never made a move for jovetic, but definitely higuain, he is class, would def do it in the prem, jovetic would add extra squad depth whilst being a utility att option

    1. Yeah your right Jovetic is that utility kind of player, he isn't your out and out striker he likes to move across the line, I am personally sceptical on him as far as succeeding in the prem is concerned, thanks for comment.

  4. Dzeko is very Lazy..He just waiting at the top.. He is not the ROLE Striker we NEED.. We need Edison Cavani Or Luis Suarez . One more we need CB to replace KOLO . Maybe Mat Hummel Or Subotic. Thx.

    1. I agree Dzeko can be extremely lazy that's what annoys me about him, but when he works that little bit harder he looks class.

I don't want Dzeko to go because there isn't a lot that needs fixing with him, hopefully Pellegrini will sort it out.

      Thanks for comment.

  5. I'd love Higuain at City, Gomez was great season before last he scored 26 goals in the league and around 10 in CL!

  6. Gomez is a dark horse not a lot said of him when transfer stories are doing the rounds, I reckon he would be a good signing.

  7. I think jovetic would be an excellent squad signing for the right price and apparently we have first refusal, also as strange as it sounds, I think pellegrini might give pozo from the eds a couple of games, very highly rated and likes young players, and I tthink it would take the pressure of him by promoting young players cos if they're a flop then it's their age and if they're amazing he's a genius, either way he gets kudos for involving himself in the youth acadmey, don't think CavanI will do well in th. Pl, I'd prefer to move for someone like aumbeyang, again, highly rated and if he's a flop it's gonna be a max of around 15 m so no Torres incident

    1. Pozo has a way to go yet he needs to be in and around the first team before he takes that step to making an appearance, he is still very young and it would be no good for him to be thrusted in early only to fail. If it were to be an option I think the signs will be there in preseason.

  8. Bentekkers at Villa, a stunning first season in the premiership, as his goals all but saved Villa from the drop.

    1. Benteke had a quality season and looked better every game I watched him, maybe worth a punt. I would like to see him for a second season though and you can afford him that time because of his age.

  9. Another premiership striker with proven pedigree is DB9 (Darren Bent) at Villa, he averages nearly 20 goals a season and would bang them in for fun at the Etihad.

For me, a bit controversial, but I'd take the gifted but mercurial Dimitar Berbatov in a heartbeat, and show the Rags what a classy striker they missed.

    1. Darren Bent is an interesting name to be thrown in, he scores goals but with him being 29 now with no major competition experience, I wouldn't imagine he would be what we are looking for.

  10. If there is a chance of signing suarez I think he should quickly become the number one target for city. Obviously everybody knows his discipline is questionable and he is also unavailable for the first eight games however his goal scoring stats speak for themselves. he is more than just a good finisher tho he has an excellent work rate and is willing to chase back and put pressure on the opposition high up the pitch an aspect of our game we will loose as tevez departs as dzeko is clearly unwilling to exert himself in any way defensively and I'm not dzeko bashing I'm just stating the obvious. After that I think the options are limited apart from Lewandowski who I feel would be an excellent signing long term. If city are to become the club they are trying to become they need stability and consistency and that comes through a squad that will grow and perform together over a number of years we don't need short termers like villa and higuain. Also I think rami would be a solid signing in defence and is clearly an achievable target.

  11. Suarez, horrible, as a player however quality. I don't imagine you could justify signing a player who comes with a ban though, surely it is not something that would be viable considering the direction our club is trying to go.

  12. I disagree, suarez is definitely an option. Yes he has his moments but is proven quality in both the premier league and in European competition with an exceptional work rate. A Cheaper option than cavani which would free up some resources to strengthen other areas especially in defence he is the complete package for city. I admit buying a player currently serving a ban is not ideal however we have two proven strikers to being the season but more importantly it will give young Guidetti a chance to prove his worth early on. I personally see Guidetti as a player who will step up to the mark this year and surprise many. I also hope to see young Denis suarez get an opportunity to show his talents too on the big stage. . . . Alot of positives to look forward to this year I feel.

  13. I can not see Suarez being much of a cheaper option to Cavani, he has to be worth what Torres sold for at least, from Liverpools point of view that is. I would have Suarez all day long but I still think it would be a tough one to pull off.

Now Denis Suarez, he is quality this lad. I am hoping the same thing that he will start to be brought through this season, not full on unless he is coping really well but just enough to help his progression along.

He is going to need some encouragement as far as his future is concerned because he is going into the last year of his contract and he is someone we do not want to be losing. Thanks for taking time to comment.

  14. Denis Suarez has been performing miracles for Spain's U-20's. John Guidetti probably needs more easing back since his devastating virus. But I suspect that Mr Pellegrini may have more than one ace up his sleeve...

Only thing is - don't we need 8 English players as a core to our declared player quota? If so, we may be pushed down the Benteke route. Alternatively - ??? We could always play Micah up front...!!

    1. Benteke wouldn't be considered a home grown mate, he has only been in England a year and is 22 already.
