Great news for a change!

City have announced that Vladimir Weiss has signed a new contract!!!!!!

His new deal means he will be at City until at least 2012, Weiss had this to say after putting pen to paper...........

"I have been here for four years now and I came here to realise my first team ambitions. I am delighted to have signed this contract.''

"I am excited about what the future holds and delighted that even with the players that City have got now, the club have given me the opportunity to progress and show that not only the big players can make it.

"The new deal shows that young players from the academy can progress. I am happy that I am one of them.

This is brilliant news, I was beginning to wonder why we hadn't moved to tie him down but City had it covered all along.

Weiss has the makings of a world star and I for one hope that he can realise his potential at City, now we just need Hughes to give him more playing time!!!!!!!

Weiss needs putting on a big contract now!!!! *Video*

Typical of the way I am, I was more interested in watching Vladimir Weiss tonight than I was in watching England. I was eager to see again how he would handle full International level and he did not disappoint me!

Weiss started for Slovakia against Northern Ireland tonight and was absolutely fantastic, he lit the game up with his skill and class. Weiss was by far the best player on the pitch and was the main reason Slovakia won the game.

He has progressed a lot since I first ever seen him as a skinny teenager, he has finally started to bulk up a little and can now compete physically with the seasoned pros.

Weiss has been showing his potential for years and I think that it is time he got his chance in our first team. SWP is not on top of his game and I think it is time for Hughes to show him he isn't irreplaceable, and with Weiss looking more and more ready for action I don't think that it will be a bad decision at all.

I think that City need to go a little bit Spanish with Weiss and give him a long contract at least a 6 year deal, with a huge buy out clause. I 100% genuinely believe that Weiss can be the best player in the world at some point in his career and how great would it be for that to happen to him well playing for the Club where he has come through the ranks.

As City fans I think we should make it known that Weiss needs a new contract sooner rather than later!

*No video of performance against Northern Ireland available at the moment will add if one does pop up.

Shaun Wright-Phillips out, Vladimir Weiss in?

With SWP being banned is it time we got to see Vladimir Weiss (pictured) in the first team.

Having made an appearance on the bench in the victory against Wigan, I personally would like to see him get a chance in the starting line up and with SWP suspended when is there going to be a better time.

I have been watching Weiss for a while now and it has always been evident he has needed to build himself up and that is exactly what he has done, he could still do with building himself up a little bit more, but he has definitely grew both in weight and height since last season.

So with SWP out instead of putting someone like Vassell on the right I think Hughes should throw Weiss in the mix and go right winger for right winger, it is time for him to start making premier league appearances to aid his development further, as you will know if you have seen him play he is a class act and prem games can only make him better.

I know City fans are expecting Elano to come back in the team and although that's not a bad decision I would really like to see Weiss get a shot, he is a guy everyone has heard about, I think its time everyone got to see him. Its also a shame Etuhu is not fit yet as he is another player I want to see given his chance in a City shirt.

I have found a video on YouTube so have a look for yourself.
