Mr Cook looked dejected!

On my way out of the site preview tonight I saw Garry Cook getting into his Mercedes, he did not look a happy man.

His body language could be forgiven because it is a hot day, he had his suit jacket in his arm, no tie on and his shirt was undone at the top, his face however painted a different picture.

We were probably all hoping that he is in Spain doing his best to convince Eto'o to sign, instead he is finishing work at 7:30 after what looked like a hard day. Maybe I am wrong but he looked like a beaten man and the person I was with also agreed. It seems he has probably had a hard day negotiating but from Manchester and not Spain.

I have to say though for him to look dejected must mean he is really working hard for City so that he can bring the right players into the Club, I hope his determination pays off for us.

  1. Looks like Eto wont be coming - to be honest i have mixed feelings about this cant decide one way or another - maybe Cook is thinking how he is going to explain this "done deal" to the owners - cant believe that City would have made the offer without getting something positive back from Eto but surely to god he should have been the last signing to complete - this threatens to once again cause us problems in the transfer market

  4. You've got it all wrong, he was late getting home for his dinner and he'd just had an ear bashing over the phone from his missus!

  5. We probably got his agreement ages ago but did not get him to sign a pre-contract. He now wants a 15M euro signing on fee from Barcelona or he is staying there and going on a free. They may decide to give in to him tonight after all 15M may not be as good as 30 but it is still better than nothing and keeping trouble. No need to wait until tomorrow to say he is staying, when it could have been made clear today if he is not waiting for this "180 degree change" from Barcelona. The Barcelona fan websites from wanting him to stay and extend his contract this morning, want him lynched and to never wear the shirt again after seeing his attitude and the money the club could lose. He has not turned us down he wants cash out of Barcelona. I am annoyed.

  6. I think Eto'o is a cheeky so & so and if he doesn't sign then it's his loss. Not convinced Gary Cook is man for the job. I can see City coming to some arrangement with Barca over signing on fee even if of means offloadong another one of their superstars to us. Hope je goes through but not end of the world if he doesn't.

  11. Well I think Hughes has to be given this season before we write him off, Cook is probs in same boat if he can't get people to the club.

  12. Its time to learn that we are no ones mugs anymore. Seeking to sign so called superstars at any cost will not enable us to complete the 'project'. Much as Eto would be a good signing the negative aspect of him not signing is playing into the hands of the 'press' yet again. If we are to be a rival for the the top teams we need to prove our place at the top table with our results as well as our cash. Sorry but its time for the real work to begin, Tevez,Lescot, Barry and Toure might lead to Top Four but until we prove ourselves we are destined to read the crap every tinpot journo cares to scribble with his crayons. I for one hope that Hughes can provide what we crave for but I have my doubts.

  13. City gal, it was my understanding that the signing on fee isn't one from the City money, which he would get anyway. He wants a substantial signing on fee from Barcelona to STAY PUT. This is where I think he's in cloud cuckoo land. Laporta, in my view, has made his feelings known and he'd love to accept the City deal and bring in the cash to finance a move for Villa, a player he sees as a long term replacement, so I don't think that he's going to agree to a paying loads in order to to make Eto'o stay. It might be a case now, where Eto'o wants to stay at Barcelona but the club and fans don't want him to.

  14. Its very clear that Eto wants a fee from Barca to leave not stay put. If you think about it from Eto's point of view its quite clever because Barca stand to lose him for nothing in a years time, he will be a year older and they will have to wear his wages for another year. Quite some balancing act to weigh up. From Citys point of view its clear Eto has one motivation only and thats as much cash as he can get. Personally I can see nothing but trouble from this. Best to turn around give him a deadline and wave goodbye. We should be the ones turning these players down and telling the world that they were too greedy. That will start to straighten things out.

  15. I think this is a negotiating stance thought up by his agent. We know he can go for free next year and he would probably get a signing on fee in the region of £15m even then. Barca would get nothing and so he wants a share.
We seem to be taking the right stance that it s nothing to do with us and leaving it to them. No doubt we will be slagged off what ever happens.
Whatever way it goes it'll happen soon.
I am still happy though, Tevez looks done, Barry is a great player, Toure is good. RSC i have to be convinced on but if he can find the form of his first EPL season well great. We will get others and will be top 6 at least.
